hello there

Caskno4133_4  I've always been fascinated by words - their rhythms, shapes and sounds, what they say, how they feel, how they work. I grew up with English and Scots, did a degree in German and French, and lived in Germany and Switzerland for several years, where I recorded Alpine pig-snorting and translated Helmut Kohl's waist into imperial.

Now I'm back in my native Scotland, where I work as a freelance writer. Most recently I've been Scottish Arts Council Virtual Writing Fellow in Dumfries & Galloway, focusing on new media. My plays include Gorgeous Avatar for the Traverse Theatre and radio drama for BBC Radio 4, BBC Scotland and BBC7. I also write short stories, with awards including the Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship from the National Library of Scotland. I've even been known to write a whisky label when inspiration strikes.

I love working in one of the few areas of life where imagination is an asset. If you need a writer with an eye for the unusual, get in touch.
